Haahahaha! I like it! Genies should look like genies, not (really tall) businessmen.

It was adaptive camouflage.

A genie isn't about appearances, but about what they do.

Much better. There's just something unsettling about genies going "off-brand."

Lol, doesn't Griha being Egyptian and only +400 years old fall into that category?

It's about the aesthetic. I mean, can you imagine if, say, a fairy started wearing business casual and talking about the stock exchange? Pure madness.

lol in that case you're not going to like this comic. That is very plausible in this story world.

I am starting to think my attempts at humor have been misconstrued.

That might be my fault. I get people telling me how the supernatural would should be written, so these jokes go over my head from time to time =P My bad.

this reminds me of what another supernatural being in another comic I read said. "Everyone at some point in their lives will catch sight of one of us," so although they can look like *anything*, it is better for them if they look fanciful. Later on they describe the fanciful look as their works' 'dress code' before changing back into it.

This is genie dress code for doing 'work' the suit was dress code for traveling in public. I personally have found that clothing is a disguse that you put on to convince people you meet their expectations.

The corollary to that is what I call the Superman effect. That is where you wear something under your 'respectable' clothes that is truly evocative of your spirit. Once it is safe for you to be you, you can find a place to strip off the outer layer to become super you. I did once do this layer peel in a phone booth, just to say that I did.

I forgot to mention that this trick is great for boosing confidence for things like job interviews where appearing harmless is good.
