Technology exists to convenience the user. It's just that how that happens isn't always obvious and "more convenient" is a relative term.

In many ways placing a phone call now is just the same back-end process that it was back in the 1930s. The only big difference is removing the people from the process. But the steps that the call goes through are still essentially the same. My question is why do we still call it dialing, when dials haven't been on phones for 10-15 years.
